When Should Your Child Begin Pre-School?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Pre-school education begins for a child in the calendar year in which they turn five by 30 April.\n\nIt can also start if the child turns five by 1 September, in accordance with the procedure set by the Minister of Education, Science and Sport, taking into account the child\u2019s learning needs and progress.\n\nAt the parents\u2019 (or guardians\u2019) discretion, pre-school education may start later, but no later than the calendar year in which the child turns six.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

What is Pre-School Education Based On?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Pre-school education is a structured preparation for school life.\nAt this stage, a child\u2019s development is systematically supported in the following areas:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Cognitive and language skills,<\/li>\n
  • social and emotional skills,<\/li>\n
  • learning motivation,<\/li>\n
  • independence and sense of responsibility,<\/li>\n
  • the ability to concentrate, listen, collaborate and be confident.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    As a result, children come to school brave, curious, emotionally mature, and ready to learn successfully.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

    What educational programs are used for preschool children?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    Education is organized in accordance with the General Preschool Education Program, with special attention paid to the following areas:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • for language education,<\/li>\n
    • for mathematical and scientific education,<\/li>\n
    • for artistic education,<\/li>\n
    • health and physical education,<\/li>\n
    • for public education.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The school also follows the Cambridge curriculum, strengthening bilingual education. This includes not only teaching English, but also teaching mathematics and science in English, helping children acquire academic language naturally.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

      Emotional intelligence is the foundation of education<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

      Understanding the importance of emotional intelligence, we pay special attention to it. Children learn:<\/p>\n

      • understand your behavior,<\/li>\n
      • resolve conflicts,<\/li>\n
      • to build respectful relationships.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        The foundation of emotional education is the Lions Quest program, which develops key social and emotional competencies:<\/p>\n

        • social awareness,<\/li>\n
        • interpersonal skills,<\/li>\n
        • responsible decision-making.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          How does the educational process work?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

          The educational process is based on the principles of contextual and experiential learning. Children:<\/p>\n

          • actively explores the environment,<\/li>\n
          • experiments,<\/li>\n
          • raises questions,<\/li>\n
          • learns through personal experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Learning takes place through real-life contexts, games, explorations, and project-based activities, making it easier for children to understand the meaning of knowledge, remember it, and apply it in practice. This encourages curiosity and intrinsic motivation to learn.
            Daily reading of books in Lithuanian and another language of education develops language, imagination, concentration, and a love of books.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

            Preschool teachers<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

            A team of three teachers works in the preschool classroom:<\/p>\n

              \n
            • two Lithuanian-speaking teachers,<\/li>\n
            • One English-speaking teacher working in the classroom all day long, creating conditions for children to naturally hear and use both languages throughout the day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Children also participate in dance and music activities led by subject teachers.
              If necessary, families and the teaching team are consulted by school specialists: speech therapist, psychologist, special educator, social worker<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

              Preschooler's Day<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

              A preschooler's day is structured, yet flexible and full of meaningful activities.
              Parents can track their children's day by:<\/p>\n

                \n
              • daily schedule,<\/li>\n
              • detailed weekly plan in the Eliis system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                Every day, children participate in:<\/p>\n

                  \n
                • in the morning circle,<\/li>\n
                • in four educational activities,<\/li>\n
                • in the evening circle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  In addition, children go on excursions, spend time outdoors, play, read, conduct experiments and explore, developing both academic and social skills.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

                  Individual monitoring of the child's progress and feedback to parents<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

                  Community is one of the most important values in our institution, therefore we actively involve parents (guardians) in the child's educational process, its planning, project activities and school holidays. We believe that an ongoing partnership between the family and the school helps the child grow consistently and confidently.<\/p>\n

                  We provide feedback to parents every day, depending on the need and situation.
                  Through the Eliis diary, parents can get acquainted with:<\/p>\n

                    \n
                  • class day photos,<\/li>\n
                  • a brief description of the day,<\/li>\n
                  • Overview of activities that took place.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                    Three times a year, teachers provide detailed assessments of children's progress in the Eliis system, supplemented with comments and individual recommendations.
                    After each assessment, we invite families to individual interviews, during which:<\/p>\n

                    • we discuss the child's progress and strengths,<\/li>\n
                    • we talk about challenges,<\/li>\n
                    • together with the family we set further educational goals,<\/li>\n
                    • We discuss how we will achieve them through cooperation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
